Them’s the breaks. But if an inability to provide the required fields and refs are the blame of the host club and if the possible punishment is forfeit then it is up to ECNL or the visiting club to determine the enforcement.

If I was NC and drove up for nothing I’d push for the forfeit.

Vda 07, 06, 05 won. 04, 03, 01 lost.

That is nice but they will all likely go down officially as 0:3 losses.

Games will be played in Raleigh at a later date.

So, because someone forgot to do their job at VDA, 6 teams worth of VDA girls (and their parents) have to make a special road trip to North Carolina - or forfeit? Seriously? Why should the parents and players be expected to pay for that trip?

Yup. You had one job to do!

And the families from NC went through the same thing. I’d be livid. Did VDA apologize?

Far from it. Coach A told a bunch of parents that it was ECNLs fault. That the club does not responsible for ref scheduling. Sounds strange based on what was posted previously that it is in fact the club’s responsibility.

It’s not strange if he was trying to coverup with the parents that the club could be financially responsible for covering the cost of 120 girls getting to a makeup game in North Carolina. That’s going to cost a bundle. Easier to blame it on the league and assume the dumb parents just gas up their cars and head for the border.

The club is going to cover the cost for the players to travel to Raleigh and play the games. You Fairfax/Loudoun people are just so concerned with this “ghetto” little club.

Really? We have friends at the club, and they are annoyed they are now going to be out money making this trip.

The ECNL handbook would explain why it didn't in fact happen. DA takes care of refs on the club's behalf. Considering VDA has DA and ECNL and some of the coaches have coached on both sides of the fence it is reasonable to assume it was simple oversight. Frankly, if I was a NC team I'd just force the forfeit. Let them suck on that for the effort of driving up for a game.

So all 6 teams take a loss? Then they won’t make nationals where there are 100’s of college coaches watching? Conceding a loss due to a management error would not be fair to the girls in the club. No, club should pay and VDA girls should have chance to play.

Yeah, real shame. LOL.

Ask NC if they care.

Ncfc got scrimmages and then they played bryc the next day. Ecnl weekends are usually double games.

So club will pay for two buses, 30+ hotel rooms, food for a day and a half? That’ll cost thousands. I think Coach A thought it’d just be easier to lie to the parents about who’s responsible and throw the league under the bus. What a sh1t show!

2 buses and food probably. Couldn’t they just make it a day trip?

Coaches boss would be preparing for home games (including ordering refs) since VDA fired the team admin before the season - maybe they just forgot.

The coaches wouldn’t be the ones assigning the refs though, would they? Presumably the TD would work with a club administrator to make that happen.
