I have this same reaction when I see all the private schools that require 8th grade girls to wear white dresses to graduation. You just know that behind all the smiling faces is at least one girl who is in an absolute panic the entire day. Just doesn't seem right.

I've always been amazed at figure skaters and gymnasts who necessarily flash their leotard covered crotch to the whole world during competitions. That's courage!

I never wear white pants, because of experiences of leakage in high school. I always assumed it was the reason I see mostly older (post menopausal) women wearing white pants / shorts.

Girls are still trying to figure out how to deal with their periods for a while. How regular, what flow which days, when a tampon might fail, and how to move around with pads. Adult women also have occasional accidents. Why someone would ever suggest while shorts for a girls sports uniform is really beyond me. It’s so easy to pick a different color, why not err on the side of caution??

Plus white is just generally harder to keep clean!

Happened to me more than once during HS sports. And has happened more than once as I get closer to menopause and cycles are heavy and unpredictable. It is awful and embarrassing at any age.

White shorts make no sense for a sport. Sport leads to dirt and dirt is most visible and hardest to get out on white.

Almost every teen girl will have an accident at some point. It is mortifying and white shorts or light color shorts are a terrible option.

Terrible idea. I am an adult woman with regular periods and I still lead. Lots of reasons why this happens and I can only imagine how awful it would be to be a teenage girl in white soccer shorts!

i was recently wearing a tampon and a liner and somehow leaked - onto my dress (which was blue) - it was unusual but it DOES happen - how can anyone think white shorts for uniforms are a good idea?
