Spoken like a typical sleazeball Republican.

The GOP is evil. To pretend otherwise is lunacy.

There were committee hearings scheduled but no votes expected. The Speaker knew most of the Democrats were at the 9/11 ceremony.

Was is it a partisan 9/11 ceramony? Why weren't the GOP there?

Because they were busy pulling a fast one over on their Democratic colleagues. Much more important than honoring the dead.

When abusers beat their partners, they frequently tell them that the victim is at fault, that the victim made them do this, that it was the victim’s fault.

When your “defense” sounds like an abuser, you’re in a sorry state.

Read this. Lewis was not on the floor. The way I understand it, someone else called for the vote. Keep up.

So the leader had no power to undo what happened? So it was a coup? Come on!

the term "plausible deniability" comes to mind.

Because they don’t care about dead Americans, including first responders and soldiers who died on 9/11

I guess the Dems don't care either. There goes a good story.

The measure, which passed by a 55-9 vote, came as several members of the Democratic delegation were in committee meetings and at least one was at a ceremony commemorating the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Even if most of the Democrats were not at the 9/11 ceremony, they were not at the Capitol because they had all been told there would be no votes before 1 pm because of the 9/11 ceremony.

Evidently, that is not true either.

Source? This is the schedule that was distributed.

And here's the Republican Rules Chair texting a reporter:

Wait...sorry about your long day? That goes from 8:00-1:00?

The day didn't end at 1:00, dumbass. That is when the session on the House floor was supposed to begin. There would be debate on the House floor and then votes. The length of hte session would depend on how much is on the agenda, but generally goes on for several hours at least.

I presume the reference to the long day was about the day before. And if voting starts at 1 it can be a long day.

Let's see the facts. Two were at 9/11 ceremonies.

And the others were elsewhere because no vote was scheduled until after 1.

That is not what the article said.

DID YOU NOT READ THE TEXT EXCHANGES IN WHICH THERE WAS A CONFIRMATION OF NO VOTES? DO YOU KNOW A SINGLE ELECTED OFFICIAL? DO YOU THINK A BUNCH OF THE DEM LEGISLATORS JUST DECIDED TO TWIDDLE THEIR THUMBS YESTERDAY AND NOT SHOW UP FOR VOTES? VOTING SCHEDULES RULE THE LIVES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS. JUST PLEASE STOP.
