OP-my MIL and mother did this. MIL did the two sizes too big tack-my mom did the loads and loads of clothes because they were so cheap. Its not horrible to be someone who asks that the giver looks at the reality of these ‘gifts’ ! If it were truly a gift-there’d be no attempt to guilt you into not using useless clothes (too big, wrong styles, not flattering.) And the burden of so much-and guilt because I want to please all-it was awful. My suggestions and guidance was ignored by both. I totally get it OP

Then you have to come back at her and tell her you can’t shrink the kids, so it would be far better to buy them larger sizes from now on.

How does she know the kids’ sizes — is she guessing or do you tell her? That may be something you can control — always tell her the larger size you’d rather get. Maybe before the clearance sales start, you can give her kid size updates. Put the reminders on your calendar now. November before Black Friday, immediately after Christmas, early July for summer clothes.

Why? Because she does not like her mom to waste money on clothes that will never be Worn? Not to mention her mom is buying clothes that someone else could have purchased. Her mom can still buy clothes, just get the next size up.

No. NP here. My kids have 5 grandparents (3 sets), all healthy and wealthy, but at the age of 60 they suddenly become helpless and stressed about the clothes MY kids wear. They constantly beg for advice on what to give them but refuse to follow it. I donate garbage bags full of clothes every year that are never worn and likely end up in landfills. It is stupidly wasteful.

OP has to deal with: 1) a pile of stuff in her house that she didn't ask for and doesn't want; 2) taking the useless stuff to the Goodwill; 3) her mother bitching because the useless stuff isn't being used; and 4) her mother repeatedly doing the same thing over and over again and refusing to stop. Anybody would be frustrated by Grandma's behavior.

Why can't the kids wear the clothes now? It's 80 outside. Not sure I understand the problem.
