DS HS junior doesn't have a gf. He was pressing pretty hard this summer. Friend zoned so far. Lots of love you's and heart emoji's bouncing around from girls. Must be very confusing for teen boys!

Me too. I had a ton of guy friends, but never was asked out.

I really most of bloomed post-college because in my early 20s people were beating my door down---and all those former HS guys were calling me up.

In my HS, the girls with lots of dates gave lots of favors if you know what I mean. The girls that were very academic/athletic (even if attractive) were more in the friend zone because the boys respected them and knew they couldn't get any.

As someone who didn’t date through high school and most of college because of self confidence and major anxiety issues, please do not say anything to your child about this. My mom always asked why I wasn’t dating, and it made me think that something was wrong with me. It’s still something that I deal with today.

I didn’t date in HS despite my mom begging me too. I had plenty of friends—some who dated the same person for 4 years, some who had like a dozen different boyfriends/girlfriends during HS and others who never dated either. Everyone turned out “normal” by adulthood.

I didn't start dating until I was 25. I feel like I avoided a lot of the dumb mistakes I would have made if I had started earlier, because I learned from all my friends' mistakes.

I didn't date in HS. I was an introvert especially with boys. I did go to dances with friends of friends and did a lot of social activities with my girl friends (I went to an all girls' school).

DD doesn’t date exclusively that I’m aware of. Large co-ed group of friends in high school and now college so I just let it be. She went to proms and such. She did go to an all-girls school and is not a partier so meeting boys was more challenging

Boys were interested in me and would ask me out but I was way too shy and socially awkward. All I did during HS was party with my girl friends. I did talk to boys on the phone but didn’t actually have my first boyfriend until the summer after high school.

My son did not date in HS, although there was a girl he was friendly with. They started dating the summer after the senior year, and have been a couple for over a year now (long distance).

My parents did. I never dated, was never asked to a dance, and didn’t have a first kiss when I graduated from high school. I did not grow up in a conservative home —all of those items would have been fine with my parents, but I had no desire to date. I wouldn’t have minded a little attention from boys, but cared much more about my grades and activities.
