I had a low-risk first pregnancy at 31 and almost died from a severe post-partum hemorrhage after an otherwise uncomplicated vaginal birth. The things that made a difference for me were that the hospital had plenty of blood, and also access to interventional radiology on site. I think it’s likely that most of the major hospitals in DC have those things too, but I’d encourage you to keep in mind the possibility of life-threatening complications even for low-risk births. Congratulations, and good luck!
