We don't play the lottery so haven't really set the minimum amount for a win to qualify, but my partner and I have a standing agreement that if one of us wins we get to check into a hotel for a week to sleep and don't have to tell the other about where we are. The other has to parent for the week. After that who knows ...

I would need to net at least $2.5 m (after taxes, lump sum). then I would probably stay for another year or so and ask HR for an early-out package. Would have something else lined up though as I couldn't stay home doing nothing.

Yes, I would. I would try to change as little as possible about my life.

$5mill + would quit my job for sure.

How much did you win from your matching numbers?

And congratulations!

I wouldn't quit my job because I love what I do. I'm lucky enough to absolutely love the field I chose so not doing it would just bore me to death.

I'd certainly be less stressed about saving money for retirement though.

You have to play to win, so I would not win.

Assuming enough to ensure that I’d never need to work again, I’d stay at work long enough to get my retirement paperwork in order and hand things off-maybe a month?

Yeah, it would have to be a lot to get me to quit working. I've got two kids in/approaching college. I would have to have over $3M (so, say $6M before taxes) invested to throw off enough income for me to even consider quitting. And that would mean no changes in lifestyle whatsoever--it would just be matching my current salary. Considering cost of insurance, etc--probably need to be more.

Real f*ck you lottery money is many, many millions.

I'm a hell-no poster. I would work on so many other things that would keep my mind sharp, as opposed to my current gig.

Yeah, my brain is currently deteriorating at my current job. Lots of filling out forms and editing other peoples' work.

I only have a couple years until I can get health insurance in retirement -- so I "might" continue to work until then (depends on lottery total). I have other jobs I am interested in that pay next to nothing - so I'd work at those part time if money was no object.
