Whoa, I thought all humans were basically selfish until they learned differently, God changed them and or they grew up and matured to a level of thinking about other people and trying to be a contribution to the well being of the family, community and society as a whole. This is a developmental thing and people don't just develop on their own, generally. Children/teens need guidance and help to go in the right direction. Sometimes parents have given good direction but there is something going on in the teen that encourages them to rebel or there is a medical condition that is interfering with the ability to function well. Good news is it is NOT too late. Start now giving your teen what she needs-PARENTS WHO CARE AND ARE WILLING TO DISCIPLINE and/or get help- for the good of the child. If you are not clear in what or how to discipline there is a good book DARE TO DISCIPLINE that has been updated. It is a classic and has been proven over the years to help parents. Blessings to you and your wonderful family. There are good things ahead. I am so glad you got a "heads up" and realized something wasn't right here. This will be a good thing for your DD and your family.
