There are studies about this. Very few people marry with age gaps for the FIRST marriage. For second marriage, there are gaps.

WEALTHY goes for YOUNGER. So the claims on this forum regarding "what men want" if they can "get it" is true.

Men with resources will more often prefer to go for the hottest young thing they can find. At least that is what the studies say is more common. Note these are men who are wealthy.

I think it's gross.

Any time I see an attractive, successful 50+ guy who choose to date/marry a true peer I will throw roses, bow before him, and applaud.

Women as life partners should not = Barbie dolls who tell you you're amazing and smart. FFS. And women, you are worth more than what type of guy your body can attract.

Most professors I know, when they divorce their first wife, they end up married to a woman 20-25 years younger.

Age gap is on the larger side but agree with others that the list of single men her age worth dating is a small one and the good ones tend to date younger.

Also, who cares. They aren't starting a family together. If it's fun for now, thats all that matters.

Men past 25 date younger. Women past 25 date older or at least 2X the income they would bring in on their own.

At 45, she's looking at retirees.

OP here is the summary. She is divorced, already had her own kids on their way out of the house. If she is smart she has no interest in having another kid, another marriage:blended family or dealing with young step kids etc. this guy is perfect. Assuming he has kids they are out of the house, he isn’t going to want anymore. She keeps alimoney, no one gives a shut about remarrying. He doesn’t make demands cause he is older and secure. Maybe he is rich. Sounds like a move a smart divorced woman makes. I’m always shocked at all the women with kids at home angling to remarry. Why? Just date, have sex and enjoy the other freedoms.

He probably has a lot of $$$ OP. And, maybe your sorority sister needs someone to pay for her kids' college tuitions. And, maybe her dh left her high and dry. You never know what goes on behind closed doors. My dad was 17 years older than my mom and it was his first marriage. Gross ...yes...but it happens more often than you seem to realize.
