I go to Macy’s around a holiday when they have a mattress sale and I buy whichever mattress has a low gauge coil (the lower the gauge, the thicker the coils are and the firmer the mattress) and the most possible coils (more coils equals less sag and less movement for you when your partner rolls over). I also get it with a pillow top because I like the combination of a firm mattress and a cushy top layer. My mattress is 3 or 4 years old and it’s so incredibly comfortable. It’s the best purchase I ever made. I’m in my mid forties and a good night’s sleep is a top priority for me. I didn’t mind dropping $2200 on the mattress and boxed spring.
Thanks. New poster here and I will try your method. I’ve found that even very old spring mattresses with a memory foam topper are sooooo comfy. I’m not sure why memory foam beds are so popular. They don’t have enough support.
