It’s petty, but so were a his really stupid lies.
If he's the sort of person who would support his children only to the state required amount, having more children isn't going to make any difference. He'll still only support his children to the state required amount, and his new wife will get any money/property he leaves when he dies.
If you want to make sure your children are taken care of, do it through the divorce settlement. A vasectomy won't protect an inheritance.
