I get to safety when I see Black teens in DC together. Did you see the girl who took the wallet?
I would look more at their demeanor and other contextual cues, and less at the color of their skin.
We are a well-educated AA family in NW DC, young kids full pay in private, etc. Will you run from our kids in a few years if they walk around with another black friend or two?

What if they're only 13/14 as reported? I'm more angry at the parents that would let their young teens roam the streets at 1am. But I'm assuming the parents of these particular kids have their own issues.

Yes, if only all potential victims would just arm themselves, this world would be a much safer place.

NP. No need to be dramatic. But PP is right - one of these days, these punks are going to go after the wrong person. It would actually be refreshing if that happened because that might be the most effective deterrent.
Kids get involved in violence because they have no hope. Shooting a few of them is not going to deter jack shit. You need to show compassion. Violence begets more violence.

The ones who "can't be deterred" are the ones who most need to be shot.
I reserve my compassion for the victims of crime, not for the criminals, who deserve only swift and decisive justice.

if anything they will go softer on crime. Arlington will have more crime as the new CA is soft on crimeAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:DC Police Chief Peter Newsham says the Metropolitan Police Department is hiring about 200 officers a month for the next year.
Ok, that's a start. But the City Council and courts need to get tougher. Stricter laws need to be passed and the courts need to start handing down meaningful sentences. MPD can make all the arrests they want but juveniles basically get a slap on the wrist.
