Well whatever the reason, it’s still toxic. The Democrats really need to stop using this term if they want to beat Trump, whose entire campaign strategy is targeting aggrieved poor whites.
The Democrats can’t just target aggrieved poor whites. They are also targeting all of the minority voters who stayed home last time.

This term is toxic. Acknowledging that POCs face discrimination is not.
Asian here who thinks that terminology is very misleading. Why can't we just call it what it is? It's racism.

It was a good answer. I suspect Gillibrand gets it a bit more than most because she represented a rural, largely white district before she became a senator. Her evolution to more liberal positions on several issues was always going to be an Achilles heel in this race, and realistically I don’t see her going anywhere. But I hope she stays in the Senate, and the other candidates could learn from her response here.
