What an amusing article. Imagine debasing yourself for the wife of...JJ Redick? I mean, a mediocre NBA player is not nobody, but his fame peaked at Duke in the early 2000s and it has been a slow slide into sports obscurity ever since.

The NYC private school scene is endlessly fascinating to me.

I lived at Hicks & Middagh for years (across the street from PS8) and left the Heights back to the west coast when I was five months pregnant. This article made me nostalgic for my old hood but glad I'm not dealing with NYC privates

Isn’t it refreshing! I felt the same way after moving from London where you literally submit your child’s application at birth. 15 months would have been too late.

Eh. She was fired without cause, which might have been the bosses right, but doesn’t mean some just deserts weren’t in order.

What's remarkable is no one in this story comes off looking good. I'm not sure what, if any, benefit all of this drama there was for the children in the program. Although, there's a certain schadenfreude to reading about the panic on kindergarten admissions among these super high-rollers with ample connections.

Yes! I saw it last year. There is another good one about kindergarten admissions in NYC called "Getting In." I found it in segments on You Tube.
