I agree that they squandered a great opportunity but who is responsible for the poor performance of the girls side. Shannon has impeccable credentials as a player and coach so I find it hard to imagine that she is responsible for the decline on the girls side but the reality is that the best team at Bethesda, came together before Coach Shannon arrived. The other teams have struggled in ECNL play but did perform in showcases.
I think the issue is that the parents are out of control. The sense of entitlement ruins the culture of what should be a great club. I guess the understanding at Bethesda that as a parent your are co-coaching director. I am sure Coach Shannon grew tired of people questioning her decisions give that she was the top college soccer player when at UNC, a major player on a champion WC team, a successful YNT coach and a successful DI college soccer coach. Blame the parents over there as well. There is no way possible that the club can ever hire someone with similar abilities. Well done, Bethesda!
Generally agree with this, but I will say that being a great player and a good coach doesn’t necessarily translate into being a good manager or talent evaluator. There is no question she’s had to deal with a lot of PITA, whiny parents. But she also brought in some very poor coaches and was loyal to them to a fault.
You might have a point on the management side but part of being a successful DI and YNT coach is managing. I also believe some of the top age group coaches were pretty solid. Dave Green has a unique style but it is difficult to ignore his track record. Coach Trey is young but is building a strong reputation. Coach Nancy is also solid. I don't know all the coaches but have come across those referenced above in games where my DDs have played against Bethesda.

Oh, I hope so! Perhaps she could recruit more women coaches for MSI.
LOL ...That did not seem to work out too good for BSC. Many players left because of the women coaches.
Yes. I hope so too just as long as she doesn’t recruit female “screamer and joystick” coaches. Having more female coaches would not only help out MSI but youth girls’ soccer in the MoCo area.
The ones that bashed her are the male chauvinist pigs who think they can coach better than any female coach.
Please the last refuge of a Scoundrel is misogyny. Women coaches can be just as bad or worst vs males coaches. BSC had some bad female coaches working under her. She should have taken action a long time ago and maybe she would still have her job.
Ummm, you are assuming an awful lot. I am pretty sure she quit because the club management has gone from bad to worse over the past year.
She and Meggan both got let go. The program was having major problems on the girls side. People do not realize how much the u little subsidize the older teams. If you are having problems fill out 2 teams when you are budgeted for 4, it’s a problem. She was the management.
