Why? Bc you can not afford to pay that? No one is forcing anyone to pay more than they can afford. Yes, some nannies make $20-$30/hr for one kid. Some nannies make $18-$20 and others make $15/hr. The responses you posted lead me to believe those nannies are desperate and English isn’t their first language. They are more inclined to take what they can get. Nannies making $20-$30 are usually able to be more selective and have more offers.

If you can afford that then you wouldn’t be getting defensive and calling someone angry. If you can afford that then you wouldn’t have a hard time believing some nannies make that. A basement-price nanny in DC area costs $8-15 depending on location. You pay more for:
First Aid/CPR
Nonsmoking
Ability to be paid legally
Ability to drive
Fluency in English
Willingness to clean/run errands
Experience beyond babysitting
Number of children
Flexibility of nanny
Willingness to travel
Fluency in a rare/desired language, esp if also fluent in English
Location
Education level in general
Formal teaching/child development education
Additional training specific to the family (NCS, Sleep training, etc.)
Experience with subcategories (SN, medical needs, multiples, newborns, etc.)
Familiarity with or certification in a specific educational approach (RIE, Reggio, Waldorf, Montessori, etc.)
Willingness to limit screen use
Experience with tutoring/test prep
Experience coaching a specific sport
Lifeguard certification
Familiarity with the DC area
Willingness to plan and execute a variety of outings (beyond story time at the library and hanging at the same park as her friends).
Reliability
Track record of long-term employment with the same family (2+ years).
Specific religious or cultural background
