FWIW I don’t think there is anything wrong with telling someone to stay strong. I have had four failed cycles, going into my 5th. I sure as hell cry and grieve but I do frankly have to stay strong whether I like it or not.

Eh, F staying strong. This is hard and devastating, take the time you need to be upset/grieve, etc. Glad you're going into another retrieval, I did the same thing and ended up with 2 normals in my second round. Some evidence that back to back can have a priming effect. Good luck OP and please keep us posted!

You can do a good deal of the monitoring locally (I went to SG) but at a certain point they will ask you to come up.

I wrote above that my first IVF had only one egg retrieved and then I did a successful estrogen priming IVF. They were done at two different clinic and it was always a 3 day fresh transfer. The reason is that the embryo have a better chance growing in the uterus than growing in media in a Petri dish.


I used to go to GW which felt the same way as you describe, they were big on day 3 or even day 2 transfers. I am now at CCRM where they firmly believe their lab is just as good as the uterus and they want to only put in normal embryos. this is their protocol so it feels like I don't have much choice in the matter, and honestly after a few failed tries I might as well try something new.

I don’t understand how a clinic could require you to do FET and PGS when only one embryo is retrieved. Is the a clinic in the DC area? Do you have a history of miscarriage?

yes! was kind of amazed. it was a day 6 and im currently awaiting pgs results.

I really do think sometimes uvf is not for everyone and sometimes the stims or particular protocol used are not great for DOR eggs. Fwiw I went through 2 ivf rounds at SG several years ago with nothing to transfer. Got the donor egg speech yada yada. I later ended up having not one but two healthy pregnancies afterwards. It really does just take one egg.
