But for college, I, my ex, and our kids will handle their college.
My husband, his ex, and their kids are responsible for theirs.
My ex and I are very careful with money and have saved for the kids' college since they were infants. Likewise, I save for retirement and a rainy day, and invest. I will protect this.
DH and his ex have zero college savings for their kids. I don't know what they will do. It is unfortunate but it will be up to them and the kids to figure it out, quite honestly. Both kids are in high school now so this will come up first (mine are younger).
It is so interesting that you are married to a man with a different approach to finances. How does that work for retirement savings?
