CMI is 3.5 and 8.7
TR4 is 12.5 and 5.7
YY is 16 and 13.9
MV is NOT 50% above grade level. They aren’t even 50% in grade level.
Yep, almost 1/2 students scoring 4 on PARCC which is above grade level. BTW I said it’s much better than our DCPS school EOTP and many DCPS schools EOTP with maybe the exception of Capital Hill schools. Very telling how you don’t put any DCPS school data, all charter.

This is hilariously delusional! Our DCPS differentiates and all the kids I know are being pushed -- many kids reading and doing math above grade level because their teacher noticed and set individual goals for them.
I have never met an MV parent who said their kid is being challenged above grade level.
People flee to these charters because of demographics, but what is going on in the classrooms? I've seen so many white people swtich from DCPS schools that would have pushed their kids farther to schools with larger peer groups and much less challenging work from the teachers.

As to principal turnovers, not sure how much MV has had, but the grass is not always greener on the other side. It’s a huge problem in DCPS because they only have 1 year contracts. It’s not close to enough time to show results under the pressures that they have. Combine this with the dysfunctional DCPS bureaucracy and you get lots of instability. The elementary near us has gone thru 3 principals in 4 years. Then there is the JO Wilson disaster if you have not been following that thread.
Nonsense. Oyster holds onto its principals for quite awhile. Mayra will begin her 6th year as principal in fall 2019.
What is he teacher turnover like? My high performing DCPS has very high teacher turnover. We all assume it is the principal who in DCPS system has too much power.
Teacher turnover seems low at Oyster. The vast majority of my children’s teachers have been OA veterans (at least 10 years teaching at OA). There are even a handful of teachers who have taught at the school their entire teaching careers (30+ years). The librarian has been there for almost 30 years. She was hired away from the Mount Pleasant branch library by a former principal. Many of the teachers and administrators send/have sent their own children to OA.

MV is still a great path through 5th and DCI will be a good feeder option.
