When I was training at the gym, and a beautiful woman walked in with an unattractive husband, all the male trainers would always joke that he was probably rich. It was just a group of trainers at my gym, so not sure if that's what most men or people would say.
I did have a close male friend who told me that when he saw a great looking woman with an average guy, that his view of the man improved. I asked him why that was and he told me that it was because the man was able to "sell himself" well enough to the woman to lock her down. I guess another term for that would be 'game.'
Since this thread is already shallow as can be, I'll add that I've noticed an uptick of very average (but not necessarily ugly) looking young women (age 25-35) who are dating great looking men. This is in my industry, which is very profitable. I tend to think that the woman's salary and her generally having her shit together is probably particularly appealing to these men young men, who have strong economic pressures on them (student loans, high cost of housing, etc). The women in my industry generally out earn their partners.
+1. I've noticed this as well.

Is this a serious answer?

lol
I think this too. I had a very beautiful roommate in college. We’re still Facebook friends and she looks very similar as she did 15 years ago - maybe a 9 instead of 10. Whenever I see a photo of her with her husband it’s hard not to do a double take. He’s very overweight and unattractive. They’re the same age but he looks 20 years older. It just looks very strange.
