I started thinking why they did it. I think , media want to report something controversial to get more eyeballs. I don't have much clue about what's going on in Churchill or Whitman to be honest, but it won't surprise me if media is playing a similar role.
The role of the media today is not to report. It is something else.![]()

I’m an MCPS teacher and no, I do not think this is happening in other non-W schools and being swept under the rug. And comments like the one quoted above are what’s wrong here. Pray tell, PP, where do you live and where do your children attend school? How many kids do you personally know who attend these oh so terrible schools? How many teachers do you personally know at these schools?
Or we could just look at crime statistics:
https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/POL/Resources/Files/04-29-19.pdf
Pick a week.. any week. More violent crimes like strong arm robberies happened in every district except 2D (Bethesda).
Here's a list of every weekly crime report, so you can see it's not just last week:
https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/pol/crime/summaries.html
Also based on the race of the suspects, we need more diversity in our criminals....
What does this prove?????

We govern our schools with the same expectations we govern the classes
Who said this at Kennedy? Is this just something you assume because you're racist or do you base this on actual evidence?
This.
I can guarantee that no kid at Kennedy has ever used any offensive word ever.
I am not saying that I know otherwise, but just with common sense, how can you guarantee that? Do you follow every Kennedy student every minute (how many of "YOU" are there if "YOU" really want to do that)?
Making exaggerating statements like that is not going to prove it is more correct (or, more wrong). It only tells people about the lack of credibility of what said.
What you call common sense most people just call racism.
Oh? So you are saying anyone finding it impossible for a single person to "guarantee that no kid at Kennedy has ever used any offensive word ever." is a racist?
That might be what you think, and that explains why some people could easily say something that clearly not true (like: "I can guarantee that no kid at Kennedy has ever used any offensive word ever.")
Because in the minds of people like you, FACTS do not matter.

Anonymous wrote:Surely there are all kinds of things happening also at other MCPS high schools all throughout the county? Are the things happening at Whitman and Churchill (for example) being talked about in the media and DCUM because the parents and students are more likely to make a noise about it? I am considering leaving a W cluster so my kids won't be subject to a bunch of jerks, but wonder if similar stuff is happening in all schools, just not publicized as much, or if it's a different flavor.

Absolutely. My daughter was harassed and called a "stupid white bitch" and the administration did nothing when we brought it to their attention except claim that she was lying. Hard to imagine similar reactions if the races had been reversed.
Anonymous wrote:Everything about W schools is over-represented in DCUM. I think it's because a larger percentage of W school parents log in regularly. Not sure about media coverage overall, but it may stem from reporters seeing info on forums like DCUM.
