OMG, it is a ten year old's soccer game! Reeeeeeeelaaaaaaaaax........
It’s not about soccer, idiot. It’s about her health and adequate hours of sleep.

I also live in that neighborhood and wondered why kids at that age had to get up that early in the morning for soccer. On weekdays, Franklin Sherman ES kids do not go to school until 9:15am. Why so early on Sunday? Don't kids need a lot of sleep?
I have a 7 years old and a 11 years old. They go to bed at 8:30pm on Saturday night and do not get up on Sunday until 10am. They have private tennis lessons at Mclean Sports and Health but that do not start until 1pm.

There is just point in being outraged by some kids playing soccer at 8:00am on a Sunday.
I completely agree with that statement. It is your family, your kids and how you live is no one business.
Myself personally would not let my own 7 years old kid play soccer at 8am on Sunday morning because I think it is a stupid idea. Kids should get at least 11 hours of sleep everyday. It is very likely that they don't sleep 11 hours on weekdays so they have to make up those hours on Saturday and Sunday. There are plenty of times for sports on weekends and it does not have to be at 8am on Sunday.
ES starts time in FCPS is around 9:15pm, at least for Franklin Sherman, so kids do not have to get up until 8am, for a reason.

Anonymous wrote:So this forum is limited to people who only commit every waking free minute to “elite” youth soccer? Got it.
The person I feel most sorry for is the sibling who loses every holiday weekend but hey, it’s all about being “elite.” I just contend the competition has gotten parents and priorities completely out of whack if every holiday weekend is the standard

This area has been a soccer hotbed for decades.
8am and rain for kids is no big deal and not crazy.
Field space is limited games start at 8am and go all day.
This isn’t really something to be proud of. It is crazy how pervasive so-called “elite” travel sports has become. Some tournaments, yes. Every holiday weekend and summer? No way. But I know, your kid is going pro.
