What percentage of the average population goes to an ivy league school? The 21 Blue team has 13% (3 out of 23) committed to Ivy League Schools - not to mention the 4 to Vanderbilt, 3 to Cal, one each to Johns Hopkins, Stanford and Notre Dame - quit bashing!

But, the truth is, there are a very few Ivy committs for '21s. Some strong academic schools have recruited those girls sure, but not in the Ivy League.

Capital just doesn't post until after the kids sign their National Letters of Intent (NLI) on National Signing Day in mid-October. This helps with any real or perceived pressure on the kids. But once we hit the NLIs, CLC will be all over this class. As of today, they have 18 or 19 on their top team and 6 on their second team committed. And while not all Ivies (although there are certainly some), it is a truly great academic list, and the girls definitely have to make sure that they keep their scores up in their classes and with their standardized tests, but it seems like most of their recruiting has involved pre-reviews of their transcripts and test scores with the admissions offices. That is often the case for verbals. In non-revenue sports, no guarantee on qualifications. Even in revenue sports sometimes at schools like Stanford, Vandy, Northwestern and the Ivies.

+1 We know several children who committed to big name schools and then had to decommit because they didn't get their scores and the offer was rescinded or because the coaching staff changed and the new coach moved in a different direction. The verbals were still announced heavily though through the club teams. Otherwise the rest of us wouldn't have known about them. It was part of the marketing to keep girls and their parents interested in the teams.
