How do you know which of the several high schools in the are the kids attend? Also, how do you know they were truant as opposed to on a flex schedule with off campus privileges?

Fair point.

What if they were GDS students helping some homeless people near the WF?

Wilson seniors do not take a full load, as many/most have completed most of their high school requirements by the end of junior year. My kid only needs to take two classes next year to graduate (a full schedule is 8), but he'll take 5 because there are AP math and science classes he wants to take. He'll be done with school by noon some days or start late. This is exactly what I did as a high school senior, and I assume what most people who come into high school with advanced language and math credits do.

My kid and his friends frequently go to Whole Foods to (gasp) shop for food. I've never heard of anyone "wandering aimlessly."

Hardly sounds like an academically rigorous environment.

The DC Council voted to decriminalize street crime west of the park.

I have no idea when DC council will wake the hell up.

When DC residents start voting in moderate Republicans.

When they stop supporting criminals like President Trump. This version of the GOP is the most corrupt party since reconstruction.

In a city so determined to prove state's rights, weird that you would conflate federal and municipal politics. It would be awesome if there were more moderate, center Republicans and independents on our Council or for Mayor. In my books, Tony Williams whom everyone credits with reviving downtown was a typical DC Republican--socially moderate but a responsible fiscal steward. At this rate, when can we have a new Representative-for-life? Eleanor Holmes Norton has been in her perch a long while.
But go on with your hysteria...

No. Not sure how you got that idea: https://ovsjg.dc.gov/page/private-security-camera-rebate-program[/quote

We need as many of these as possible in this city. Get yours.]

But that would be culturally insensitive ... like asking someone to stop blasting GoGo music on s street next to a residential building.

What? Teenagers are loud and rambunctious. Are you trying to say that being a teenager is a culture now?

Ohhh... no. I get it. You can't say what you want to say directly because deep down you know that teenagers by nature are loud and rambunctious and it's kinda nutty to selectively get mad at black kids (which is what you mean when you say "Wilson kids" -- although Wilson is 6 blocks from McDonalds and there are a dozen fast food places closer to Wilson than McDonalds -- and Sidwell is 1 block from McDonalds).

As a middle aged white man from the rural south, this yankee racism disgusts me. Growing up, we could at least tell who the racists were because they were up front about it. And more often than not, southern racists actually know black people. They'll say "I hate those people.. except for Joe, he's good people."

Up here, you people come on anonymous internet forums and obsessively bitch about music or "Wilson kids" and then complain when you get called out. You spend your life on racist dog whistles (like, being a racist really seems to take up a lot of your day), but then get mad that the people who you obsessively bitch about and blame "make everything about race."

You are so gross.

Im not the person you're responding to, but who is mad besides you? There are shared spaces and civic expectations. Any adult who professes to know and not be 'scared' of the children while co -dining should also be comfortable giving gentle reminders and guidance about shared space. It would actually be greatly helpful and is a wonderful role they could play. As to the current go go controversy, I like go go a lot. I like DCs special place in go go history. I do think noise ordinances in general should not be selective. Can I have a loud party just because? Change the law if needed, but not sure about making a special one of exception. Muriel Bowser popping up at the demonstration was completepandering. Change the rules for this one store because why?

The Metro can be a zoo after Wilson lets out. And some local fast food places can get a bit iffy. McDonald's figured out a while ago to play classical music, which discourages the Wilson kids from hanging out there too long.

The McDonalds at Van Ness that’s six blocks from Wilson? Um... nope. I’m often at the Chik Fil A in Tenley and it’s frequently crowded and sometimes loud at dismissal. I usually know many of the kids there, so unlike you I’m not frightened of the children.

From now on PP above will help make sure everyone is polite and respectful.
