I like when others say that about DD. I usually take it mean physically similar appearances. I'm adopted so DD is the first person where I can go 'she had my noses/eyes/etc' so it's a nice experience.

I think it is very serious. If my mom said that to me I think I would feel invisible. One of the moms I know says this to her 6 year old and I wonder what she is thinking. I cringe every time.

I get this about both of my sons because there is a strong resemblance. People who don't know us also assumed they were girls as babies given said resemblance. I think it's weird, but I get where it's coming from and I don't see any harm to my kids in it.

I don't understand. My daughter looks so much like me and acts like me. I think she likes it and I like it. But I like myself and I'm fairly certain my daughter likes me too. We say it as something positive, and I will always say it in a positive way.

My DS is a complete blend of me and DH. My chin, His Dad's eybrows, etc. His personality is his own! Such a fun little person to get to know.

I have three mini mes. Two look just like me and the one that looks nothing like me has my rebellious streak (Lord help me). I don’t refer to them as that to other people, but we can all find parts of our personalities and features in our kids.

Same here. Also comments about how I've managed to clone myself.

A few of my friends from childhood think pictures of me as a baby/toddler/preschooler are my daughter and vice versa. Also, her personality is similar in some ways to mine at her age. I see it a little, but I think she's much prettier than I am/ever was.

The only person who doesn't think she looks like me is my husband/her father.


I have a pic of myself at my girl's exact age and the average viewer cannot tell it's me except those who realize it's a digital pic of a physical photo. Now, my girl's personality too is like mine and DH see that too...(for better or worse).

I don’t love the phrase but understand the sentiment. My wife has bright red hair and we get the comment once a week that DS is her mini me. They have the same body type, skin tone and many other things. People are just trying to be friendly and I think they are amazed to see people with such striking similarities. DS is 2 so he’s not bothered.
