Same. I always allow zippers when there is a disabled vehicle. That is different then cutters who are driving aggressively. I never let them in and do not yield. In the event of an accident, they will be at fault since they are the one switching lanes. I also have a video console that records, should I ever need to prove my case.

What, you think no one speeds on ramps? People come flying off ramps sometimes. Just because they are speeding doesn't mean people in the right hand lane are going too slow.

What is super rage inducing is when your are in a turning lane with a long backup, and people pass turning lane traffic in thru lane and then force merge into turn lane, often BLOCKING the fast moving through lane.

Key Bridge left onto M st and GW parkway to 395 N are epitome of this ; wish they would build barriers

I was in a situation today where everyone was properly zippering (construction was forcing the end of the right lane). Just as I’m merging in, tough guy behind me (also in the right lane) zips around and takes my turn. Complete asshole move.

It's a dick move to not adhere to the zipper but imo it's much dickier/more dangerous/more liable to not slow down to let the person in. 1, if you hit her, it's probably "from behind" so definitely seems like your fault. 2, I think it's faster for everyone if you just slow down and let her in, as things get a lot slower if the people in the lane that is closing end up at a complete stop with no more room.

When I had a junk car used to let them hit me. I stopped doing it. I once had a BMW cross over double yellow and drive into side of car because he though I would move and he did not. I had a $100 dollar car so no clue why he thought I would move. I stopped doing it as I had a jackass tailgating me at 3am. I hit the brakes he plowed me, I was expecting him to hit brakes. It looked like I totaled his front end. No one was hurt. I drove off my car was fine. But after that too risky

I know a long time ago Va. had to make it a law that required vehicles in travel lanes to yield to merging traffic when an adjacent lane ended. In my mind, that set an expectation that merging was somehow legitimized. But I assume if you are complaining about someone seeking to move out of a blocked lane and into “your” lane, then you would also be the one complaining about the jerks who can clearly see your lane is blocked and won’t let you over. It’s just never their point of view and only your point of view. Merging traffic is moving traffic.
