I have had a poor experience with kenmoor TAG and my son is currently in 8th grade there. So much inconsistency among the teachers. Far too many errors in students grades. I can’t tell you how many times I had to reach out to teachers regarding grading errors. Too many times I had to hit teachers with the correct policies. Front office staff is pretty chaotic at all times of the day. The building is very gross. The school has regular kids zoned there, TAG and an autism program which i thought was a huge plus but everyone is pretty segregated and easily identified and made fun of.

I am a parent there and a teacher within PGCPS

Wow.....you are literally the first person I have heard that is not happy with the program overall. I know over 15 families with kids currently there and several whose kids have matriculated out of the program. I can't disagree with some of you posts but I take that as part of being in a large county middle school.

Also, Kenmoor is slated to get a new building in SY 2023.

Out of curiosity, which MS in PGCPS is better in your opinion?

Greenbelt Middle; not previous poster and take this with a grain of salt. It's the best of the trash we have to pick from. *shrug*

Interesting....that isn't the impression that I have gotten from people with first hand experience with both schools. In reality they are likely pretty equal.

My boys were both given spots at Capitol Heights (will be 5th and 2nd grade next school year) and I'm faced with the decision of pulling them out of their current private school in DC for the TAG opportunity or staying put. Currently, we're zoned for Walker Mill Middle for TAG, but we're looking to move in the next year and want to center our location on the best Middle/High School options.

I have several friends with kids at CHES and they are very happy there. I haven't heard anything negative about it.
Walker Mill....I have a friend who pulled her kid out of Walker Mill. It doesn't have a great reputation. The beginning of this blog post is about Walker Mill https://pgcabs.org/2018/06/11/middle-school-talented-and-gifted-programs-need-improvement/

You might want to try to move into an area that is zoned for Kenmoor Middle as your TAG center. We have been extremely happy with the school so far. I have another friend whose child is at Benjamin Tasker's TAG program and they are happy with it as well.

And there are parts of the county that are zoned for both CHES and Kenmoor. Most of Cheverly is.

Thank you for this! I am a product of PG county schools myself and was hoping that maybe Walker Mill had improved but it sounds like it hasn't. It's a shame because we are looking to buy a brand new home with a lot of space (we will need a full in-law suite for my mom) and many of the neighborhoods that we like are zoned for schools that we aren't thrilled about.
