I had the same question and heard it's excellent even for the non-STEM kid.

If your kid likes STEM, it’s a great fit...a really great fit...even if they struggle with the subjects a little. If they don’t, it probably isn’t. I agree that the music program is good.

The program is just a perfectly normal high school program. They have more math, science and engineering choices than many high schools, but plenty of kids attend who are not STEM whizzes or anything. It's probably not the school to attend if your child is interested in a lot of art electives. They have the basics, but I don't see a lot of variety. They have decent music and theater extracurriculars.

I can't imagine where the school district is getting funding for "mandatory" (they can't actually make it mandatory, there's no transportation) summer school for so many students.

We can't even get summer school for kids who actually need it, except for a few small programs.

Summer school for three weeks for 9th graders who are at the top of their academic cohort? High PSATs and high GPAs? Where did they get the money to pay for that?

I've got two kids at ERHS now and they agree that this is crazy.

The website says that you can indicate the days they can go with an explanation for the days they can't attend. We have plans for some of the time.

They should have let people know about this earlier if it's mandatory.

Where did people see this? Or how did you know about it? Our letter didn't mention it I don't think.
