That's interesting. On the girls side, I wonder whether this will have the effect that DA is hoping for. If both DA and ECNL allow high school soccer, then why would a girls club in ECNL switch to DA? What is the advantage gained by doing so?

Someone earlier in this thread posted that no waivers were granted to any of the 3 girls DA teams in VA. I think the PP was just responding to that statement when she said it was not true, as evidenced by the Arlington girls.

So what? Private school waivers can be granted. The player is still not allowed to play or train with the DA team during the HS season.

No, anyone who knows the DA restrictions to one game a day and was actually at the showcase knew the PP was total BS. It only took 3 minutes to call it and prove it.

I love someone who is not only reading, but also posting to, a soccer-only blog, calling out other posters for being crazy and not having a life. I appreciate PP's point, but everyone who reads and posts is on the spectrum of being crazy and soccer-obsessed. There is another thread that has gone over this showcase and its results ad naseum. Unless your kid plays on a non-DA or ECNL team and you're arguing that your team is better, then we don't need to rehash the "Is the DA better than ECNL or not" conversation with points drawn against and for from a meaningless winter showcase. I'm pretty sure the ECNL teams also had fancy jackets though, so maybe you ARE arguing that? If so, tell us what club you are from.

Yeah, sorry, I was just one of those trying to call BS on PP - both on the number of games and the results. I should have said it's not surprising that some ECNL teams would beat some GDA teams, and vice versa. Old news in the sense that, as you say, the GDA v ECNL debate has been hashed out ad nauseam.

I'm not sure what point the PP was trying to make other than to take a pot shot at the DA.

The DA does not allow DA teams to play multiple games on the same day. That is why the DA teams only played 2 games.

Right, but PP says his team played 3 DA teams. There were only the two Spirit teams at that showcase on the DA side from what it looks like. So in a given age group, there weren't even 3 to play. (And as a side note, the free substitution rules change the game for DA players accustomed to limited sub....)

More relevant to the discussion in THIS thread -- key point is the one about the DA not allowing DA teams to play multiple games in one day. DA rules on this AND high school are a lot about managing the training and game volume for the player to keep it appropriate for development and not overload adolescent bodies.... That's not a bad thing.
