No silly, everyone knows that when rich white kids fail it’s becuse they do it on purpose, and when everyone else fails it means they’re lazy, their parents don’t believe in education, etc.
This is part of the false narrative the real-estate industry pushes to drive up home values. Every MCPS school has a high-achieving cohort the difference is the degree to which poverty the impacts test averages. Honestly, some focus schools may in fact do a better job since the classes are much smaller.
Plus much better on your kids confidence and success to be a Big Fish in a Little Pond of ESOL and FARMs.
More real world as well. So sick of these elites from nonSES diverse schools and companies telling truly diverse public schools what to “try out.”

Shouldn't that apply to the math scores as well, then?
I love the excuses, though. If non W schools have poor test scores that can't be because some kids blew off the test, but if W schools did, then it must be because they blew off the test.
This is very similar to if kids in poorer schools act up, it's due to terrible parenting, but if W kids act up, then it's because the kid has some SN.
Such a bitter betty.

That’s a load of crap. There is no ESOl program at Whitman and all of the European students who come to Whitman are fluent in English. They get virtually no students from Latin America like 20 other high schools.

right.. same as when a rich white kid acts up in school it's because the kid has SN. If a poor brown kid acts up in school it's because the kid is bad and it's due to bad parenting.

+1 So Whitman kids are selfish and entitled, but BCC, Wootton and WJ kids aren't. Um. Ok. Maybe we could just use the explanation we usually use: the kids just didn't perform as well on the test because they're not as strong students as in other schools.

+1, lol! And who pushes themselves to study for PARCC? My non-Whitman kid doesn't study for standardized state tests and does well.
