I dated a Rhys and that ended poorly, so it's not for me -- but you can like it I think most people will know how to say it, it's not really that rare. People may ask if you are Welsh or have some heritage connection to the name. If you use it, spell it Rhys.

Since you asked, I like names like Caleb, Isaac, Owen, Finn, Nicholas, and Benjamin. I really dislike names like Max, Hugo, Nico, Aidan, and Graham.

I like a variety of names, mostly classic. I tend not to like surname names. I wouldn’t use top 10 names, though Benjamin and Charlotte are names I love, unless I had a beloved deceased relative with the name. So I’m firmly in the Theodore, Max, Hugo, Isaac camp when it comes to boys’ names.

I had a now-70ish year old co-worker with that name...I've always loved it. And no, he didn't have a lifetime of struggles with people pronouncing it.

Have a coworker named Rhys. I think it tool me a brief time to learn how it was pronounced (because we see names, we see faces but are usually not presented with the two at the same time so it's like a matching game when there are new people, not to mention quite a few trans people whose legal names do not match their work names). The Rhys at my workplace is quiet, very competent, and possibly nerdy (most of the nerdy people here are not quiet at all).

I don't love or hate it. Definitely agree you should spell it Rhys. I think most reasonably educated people would know how to correctly pronounce it.
