Yes, I took a short walk 30 minutes ago and the sidewalks were surprisingly slippery - I slipped on black ice three times. Wouldn't surprised me if they closed tomorrow morning.

And consistent with what they said after they were caught off guard/made a mistake sending the kids in earlier in the year in snow-when our bus crashed.

They will start having initial 2 hour delays with time to reassess full closure later. They said that way parents can arrange care for delay—and not scramble at 6am.

Yes. Arlington County FB page says that they extended it to 3pm Tuesday. Generally it is 24 hours post the end of the storm. So the storm ended at 3am Monday and sidewalks would have to be shoveled by 3am Tuesday, absent the extension.

The amount of time you have is dependent on the amount of snow that fell. I think the cut off is six inches, but I'm not sure.

The note said that they will make a final determination tomorrow by 6 if they decide to change to closed. Anything that was shoveled or plowed by this AM is now melting very nicely.

It could still end up with closure but this is in line with the new policy of calling a 2hr delay simply to give them leeway to make a final decision at 6am if they need to.

It's sunny and drying the roads by me. I'm on South George Mason and it's almost dry. Our minor side road isn't totally clear, but it's very passable. I'm curious to see what it looks like at 9pm after the temps drop.
