I think he's not a friend.

When people make comments about my physical appearance, I come back with something like. Oh, I didn't realize we're commenting on appearances... You've put on a few pounds (or gotten a lot more grey, or could use a wardrobe refresh or need to join a gym, whatever applies.)

He was rude, yes. It’s rude to comment on people’s bodies, period. That said, he may have been thinking more about his kid than about you - here is his little boy, as big as a grown up! He was using you as a measuring stick for his growing kid. I have a tall kid who gets great joy in passing grown ups in height. I hope I’d never mention it, though.

I'm sure he didn't realize how offensive it would be to you. You can tell him, nicely, that it hurt your feelings and I'm sure he'll apologize and cut it out.

At some point, you may need to recognize that in the grand scheme of things, this is no biggie. yes, you're short. Who cares? It's really not a bad thing for women; i'd rather be a short woman than a woman who is taller than all the guys. (which I sometimes am.) (I do feel bad for guys, who get overlooked in dating.)

I have a bunch of short friends. One regularly jokes about how my daughter is about to pass her in height. She's passed down shoes to my daughter before - they currently wear about the same size.

He was tactless, but you probably need to learn to let it roll off you.

You should stop being thin-skinned, laugh it off and work on a comeback instead of getting butthurt.

You need to develop a thicker skin. I work for five attorneys and one male partner is about 5'4". He makes jokes about his lack of height sometimes.

Since you're not going to grow, you need to make peace with your height. You should have laughed it off.

People can't help themselves OP. It sounds like he was being mean and I don't get why people here are calling you names as well. Just chalk it up to his problem not yours.

I’m also the same size and don’t appreciate comments on my height. Yes, I am sensitive about it, so what? Most adults are not rude or unthinking enough to comment on it but some do. I still wouldn’t retaliate in a hurtful way.

I'm about your size and age, and I make jokes like this, about myself, in comparison to other kids. Or that I occasionally buy things from the children's section.

It's fair to be a little annoyed, but I think you're taking it way, way too personally. Just bring it up to him if it really bothers you that much.
