I will use my dd’s first and last name on occasion, and the weird thing is I’ve noticed other people doing it a lot more than me.

NP. I actually thought this was pretty funny. And spot on. Yeah, most people choose names that mean something to them. And when you use a full name when talking to your kid, it does sound pretentious.

I call my daughter her first and middle name sometimes. Just because I love it. And her middle name is not of the Anne, Rose, Grace, Claire, Lynn variety.

LOL. Some kids have short first and middle names. Like Anna Rose. So you call her Anna Rose, and it should be more no more annoying to you than meeting a girl named Maryanne (both three syllables).

They do it to show off how cool and clever they are. The irony is that the names are always the most UNCLEVER names.

LOL. Our former soccer coach would do this when he was trying to get his daughter's attention on the field. It cracked up the other parents every time. And they're Southern, so there might be some truth to a PP's theory.

(my daughter is only her full name when she's in trouble.)

I hate it too, OP. I've noticed it's often the moms who put ridiculously big bows in their daughters hair.

OP - do they just use the two names when talking to their kids or always refer to their kids with two names? Is it what would be on their cubby at school, etc. Do they expect others to use both names? If it is the latter, that is the kid’s name. I actually like it. If it is the former, the official name is one, but parents use double when speaking to them - a tad annoying
