Summation: I pay taxes and I want my money spent responsibly just like conservatives do.Anonymous wrote:I did not read this whole thread but I'm a taxpayer. I make in the lower five digits and I am seriously pissed off. If we don't have the money to properly fund veterans health care or feed kids breakfast at school in the morning (I don't care who their parents are) and I can't afford to go to the doctor (please don't insert the illegal immigrants dog whistle here because it has nothing to do with why I can't afford healthcare) I certainly cannot see how we can afford to build a large structure that will be obsolete in five years.

+1 million unpaid American workers while Trump breaks his promises again

My cousin works not in the DMV and has a FR position with the TSA. She’s a single parent to a 2 year old, and is responsible, reserved, kind. She should be in this position because you think it’s hilarious to have someone CURRENTLY working for zero pay in national security because you think it’s just marvelous to joke about six more years.
The cruelty of you supporters - don’t bother lying, it’s unbecoming - is f-cking amazing.
With all the rants, schadenfreude and hate for Trump and the GOP over the last three years, might I ask how do you like it?

He has folded on pretty much everything else. Why not this?
Actually, he won last year’s shutdown crisis over DACA. No reason to believe he won’t win again. I think he realizes that shutdowns are one of his most effective tools.
Huh?
How did he win?
DACA receipients still have protection provided through court ruling and he does not have the $25B Chuck Schumer was willing to offer. That’s in my book is called not winning!
Right. The Dreamers have temporary protection via court order, not a permanent legislative fix. The Senate Democrats insisted on a legislative solution during last year’s shutdown, but then eventually folded. So the President won that round.
How did Trump win? He gave up 25 billion and is now begging for 5 billion or less.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. $5 billion is a great start. Assuming he will be in office six more years (we shall see), it will be fully funded. He will of course campaign on it again next year, which is all the more reason he can’t afford to (and won’t) lose this fight.
Are you obtuse? He gave up 5 times more money than he is scrounging for now. Why?![]()
Is he again going to campaign on Mexico paying for the wall? It takes a special kind of stupid to be a Trump supporter.
Actually you're a little obtuse.
1. The 25B number D's are throwing around was an appropriation, not a penny of it funded. He didn't walk away from anything, it was an empty envelope.
2. DACA was found unconstitutional. It's still in place only under a temporary stay. Keep holding your breath.
3. Mexican's currently remit 50M per year to mexico. DT has the authority to put a tax on that (say 10%) and fully fund the wall.

Why is it that Dems always feel intellectually and morally superior? It takes a special kind of narcissist. Anyway, the President didn’t give up anything. A federal district court threw a wrench into last year’s shutdown negotiations when it decided to intervene in the DACA saga. But as mentioned, that is not a permanent fix, and neither the court nor the Dems have done the Dreamers any favors.

Can’t fix stupid, can we?
Democrats did not fold. They demanded legislative solutions in exchange for $25B for the wall. Trump was negotiating in bad faith and demanded more. The failure of the negotiations is on Trump. DACA situation is at the same place it was before Trump cancelled it to use the dreamers as pawns. Since the dreamers are not under imminent threat, Democrats will address the situation when they have complete legislative majority. So, no it’s not a win for your orange buffoon!
That kind of nasty rhetoric is not warranted. And you’re wrong, the Dreamers are in a very precarious situation. Eventually the Supreme Court will overturn the lower court decision, and they will be subject to removal. If the Dems were smart, they would trade the wall for the Dreamers. Could still happen, we shall see.
DP - curious what's the "nasty rhetoric" you cite? Are you referring to the phrase "orange buffoon"? What is nasty about that? 1) He is orange. 2) He is a buffoon. There is no denying either of those statements.
And really, if you are a Trump supporter you have ABSOLUTELY NO moral high ground to stand on when it comes to "nasty rhetoric." Please. The president sets the tone and the tone he has set is nasty. Or do you not read his twitter account or see how he acts at his rallies?
