You need to tell. This isn't one of your sons friends... this is your sisters kid. What would you want in her situation? Sex work is unacceptable and he needs help to get out before he ends up dead, HIV-positive, and/or addicted to drugs.

That’s interesting to me because if it were something else like a circus, I’d probably keep my mouth shut. But moral judgement aside, her nephew is putting himself in danger. The rate of AIDS among sex workers is at least 12x higher than the general population, I’m sure it’s the same for other diseases too and maybe even higher than that if it’s gay prostitution. And while he may not be on drugs himself, he’s probably in the same circles as people who are, in addition to johns or angry husbands/boyfriends who beat up prostitutes. The profession absolutely does matter. He’s putting himself at huge risk and could easily get himself in some kind of situation that he might need family help to get out of, or end up dead. He needs to have somebody to turn to if he gets in over his head. I’d be mad about the lying but more worried than anything else.

Exactly! Plus this is her sister and her kid. Not some neighbor she barely knows. I think a lot of people on this forum have a very strange relationship with their immediate family. In mine, we take care of each other.

OP: I've texted him that we love him and I invited him to dinner, at a restaurant near his home. (no response). His mom likely knows she is being played. She tends to want to "kill the messenger," so I'm not going there.

I really don't understand the rationale behind those who said MYOB. We're talking about an illegal act that is dangerous and in some cases implicate other criminal characters. Also, this implicates deciet on the son's part. This is not a lifestyle choice. If this was about the kid being promiscuous or have a certain fetish, sure MYOB--this is not that case.
