Were you babysitting for free?

Sorry op but the date with the crush is a bigger deal than your anniversary. What woman doesn't get this?

She's probably worried that if she doesn't say "yes" to her crush, he won't ask again.

Realize this is past, but I've never held friends accountable if there was a first date involved. It's just too exciting when someone you really like asks you out for the first time. Be happy for your sister.

Hope it all worked out. Anniversaries are special too- but I've been married 20 years. It won't matter if you have to celebrate a week late- not in the scheme of things.

If it’s for something that could be done in a day or two no biggie. But if you either paid for her services or bought tickets or something, you have a right to be annoyed.

I can’t believe I’m in the minority here. I’m an aunt. I’m also a babysitter. I would be pretty annoyed if I were you. I wouldn’t be livid, but I’d def be kinda ‘wtf’. Why can’t she have the date another day? Sorry but keeping your commitment to someone is more important than a date.

But, you know, this isn’t like she reneged on a promised kidney for your child. You’ll get over it. It’ll be fine. But it’s still OK to blow off some steam here!

Agreed. Like someone said, one day it might be a funny story if the date turns into more.

Yup.

I would be annoyed but get over it since its family. This is why I primarily stick with a paid babysitter for really important date nights.

Typical DCUM. Sisted OFFERED. I was that aunt without kids who would regularly offer to help my sistees with care before having kids. Don't make it into something it's not.

No tickets and not even your anniversary, and you talk about scrambling to find a sitter? Seriously?
