So are you saying the issue of the fence is poor communication by Dr. Benz and Mrs. Heckert? If it was in the works, why did the email from Mrs. Heckert come out after the fence was built?

Also, why are some PPs giving Mrs. Heckert the thumbs up like the fence was her idea? The fence either was her idea or it wasn't.

At a time MCPS is asking for more money, the fence seems like a waste of school funds. The fence so short that it doesn't provide any additional safety to the school. There are many other problems that should be fixed that would have a direct impact on school safety that could have used the funding.

What fences are you referring to at Seneca Valley?

At Northwest High School, there's a fence because the sidewalk is next to a highway, and the State Highway Administration would rather fence in pedestrians than require drivers to drive more slowly.

I also like the fence. Nice looking fence. And if it might help safety, I'm all for it!

How are you defining "jaywalking"? It's legal to cross anywhere on Gainsborough.

So you monitored jay walking before the fence and watched for jay walking after the fence during the morning, at lunch, and at dismissal?-Was there any deterrent to keep students from jay walking across Liberty or Tuckerman? What about students who walk through the parking lots? Any improvement there?

Parents and students have been complaining about serious problems at the school for years. During the selection process, MCPS supposedly gathered input from parents as to what these issues are so a principal could be selected that was a good fit for the community. Parents are disappointed that there is little communication or action by Mrs. Heckert to address the issues that were identified during the principal selection process.

OMG, get a life people!

MCPS seriously can't solve the problems in the math department, address bullying and sexual harassment of students at school, or prevent drug use during the school day, but they got that fence up in one weekend. I guess building a fence will make Churchill High School great again.
