I had a mom make an AMAZING Banana Bread once, paired it with my favorite fatty Starbucks drink delivered straight to my classroom from Postmates. Yep! #fatteacherhappiness

Most thoughtful Christmas gifts I received from my 6th graders learning French were a specialty tea box and handmade cards written in French! 8 years later, I still have the cards and the box...and remember the students (who are probably in college now) behind the gifts!

My children’s teachers get the max I can afford.

My kid has a classroom teacher, goes to another teacher for math, 3 specials, 1 music teacher, librarian. all that adds up. Not going to donate to another school.

7-11 actually sells gift cards. They make a better alternative to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. There seem to be lots of 7-11s in the DC area now and they sell something that everyone could use. Scratch off lottery tickets are also the gift that gives back!

I wish we had Sheetz or Wawas, they would make for good gift cards too. But wait, that’s another thread. Lol!

Goodie bags with extra dry erase EXPO markers (Or other quality dry erase marker, not the ones from the dollar store). I wouldn’t get only a pack of dry erase by themselves though

DC public school teachers cannot receive cash, but most principals look the other way (letter carriers are required to declare if over $25). Our room parentsl this year are asking every family to give $10, then they will pool the money and distribute gifts evenly to all staff. Making it more equitable.

Its higher up the article, in the Gifts from Outside Sources section - "An employee may accept unsolicited gifts having a market value of $10 or less per source per occasion, provided that the aggregate market value of individual gifts received from any one person under the authority of this paragraph shall not exceed $20 in a calendar year, except when the offer
of the gift would appear to a reasonable person to be intended to influence the employee in his or her official duties." Our PTA has limited this to $20 per family for the school year. $10 for each year. I would read it differently, as in an additional $10 for a birthday could be included. $10 for end of 2018, $10 for 2019 and $10 for birthday on either year (so as not to exceed $20 in any calendar year. But, we will do what the PTA suggests. Could be because not all teachers have birthdays during the year and they want (and the teachers want) it to be the same for all teachers.
