It is not hard at all for me. I have lost over 20 pounds since the beginning of October and am still losing. My energy levels have shot through the roof. I find myself tackling projects around the house that I've been meaning to get to for a year or more.
You don't get headaches or shakes?

SHe said she eats fruit and veggies- those have plenty of carbs. Added sugar does nothing healthy.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:When I'm fasting, nothing, obviously (water, tea I do allow). The 8 hours I'm eating ... veggies, protein, fruit. Avoid bread and sugar.
Carbs increase insulin sensitivity. Avoiding them is not ideal.

The diabetic level blood sugar readings were a shock to us last spring, he was overweight but not obese and actually quite athletic, but with a vicious sweet tooth. His doctors wanted him to go on medication but diabetes is usually a progressive desease where the medications do not really treat the cause. I did a lot of reading including Jason Fung and the Diabetes Code and we reduced the amount of highly processed foods in our diet, cut the breads and sugars and he does 2 24 hour (dinner to dinner) fasts a week.
He has kept off about 25 pounds and his blood sugars readings have been completely normal. He has not counted calories at all.
Awesome! Congratulations!
Trying to get my DW to follow this, just recently diagnosed with diabetes. She has got to be one of the most unhealthy, healthy person I’ve ever met.
If she's on diabetes medication she should ask her doctor about how to safely incorporate IF. Once you become diabetic and go on meds it becomes a bit more complicated because you actually have to eat at particular times or you risk going hypoglycemic which can be dangerous. She'll need to work with her doctor to reverse this.
I would be careful trying to IF while taking diabetes meds. I've never been on those meds before and probably a lot of posters on this thread haven't been. My guess is she could do a modified fast to keep her numbers looking good.

Just so you know.
IF is how I eat now, it's not a gimmicky diet. Nobody needs to eat all day. It's actually better for you to not eat for a long period of time and give your digestion system a break. Do some research…..
Give it a "break" from what, exactly? Does it wear out sooner like a conveyor belt if you don't put it on standby?
I'd be interested in your peer-reviewed trials demonstrating that the human stomach, pancreas, intestines, etc. are optimized by being idle the large majority of the time. I've searched and haven't located any.
