It's the best crew program in the region. Won the top two prizes at Stotesbury the past three years in a row. That has had an impact on the entire program. A lot of girls who would be strong contributors in other sports choose instead to devote the year to rowing.

GDS is not the equal of Sidwell, STA or NCS. It is equal to Potomac and Holton however. And the later three are only a little bit less intense than the first three.

Visi is certainly strong in soccer, basketball and lacrosse but they have neglected several of their programs and are just not competitive.
They will not have all their teams in AA next year..

My comment wasn’t about Landon boys being an issue just that if the goal is being connected to a boys school that’s not the focus at Holton. Much more interaction at NCS and St Albans. My daughter is an athlete and I was just answering the question I thought OP was asking about top academics and great athletics but also with connection to a boys school. Most multi-sport varsity athletes at Holton don’t have time to do plays given practice time and demands of school so that’s not a way they would interact with boys.

NCS has the best academics by far and also does very well in athletics.

Athletically SR is a step down -- no debate there.

+1 Visi won the ISL AA titles in basketball and lacrosse in the spring and field hockey this fall (plus 2d in soccer). What AA titles did SR win the last two seasons?

GDS is as strong academically as NCS and stronger than either Holton or Potomac - just look at the college matriculations.
GDS girls soccer just finished this fall ranked in the All-Mets top 10, lost 2-1 in the DC state championship and 2nd in the ISL AA division. Girls volleyball made semifinals of state tournament. At the ISL Cross Country championships, girls varsity finished 3rd/15 and JV finished 1st/8.
