I thought hairdressers are crazy?

A surprisingly large body of social science research indicates that mother's educational level is the most important determinant of a child's performance in school. That's why the children of the first wife (whom he met in law school) do better academically than the children of the trophy wife.

Neither

If my wife has a career, I'd like it to be something a bit more substantial than hairdresser or waitress or something similar

Not interested in a Harvard law grad. Sounds miserable

Right, ‘cause guys plan ahead about how their hypothetical kids’ hair is going to look.

Whichever one could shoot a gun better.

Final answer.

Hairdresser. She'd be busy on the weekends so I could keep the lawyer going as my side babe.

Depends who is more pleasant

I wouldn’t date someone who looked down on a hairdresser just for being a hairdresser.

But that's my priority. If the hairdresser is a better personality fit or has the qualities you want - like you think she'd make a better mother than the lawyer or you come from the same hometown and you think you want to move back with someone who understands that community - then the hairdresser.

Also only the lawyer if she plans to keep working. If she doesn't, it doesn't really matter does it?

Lol here is your answer ladies. The man who wants to marry the lawyer is the one who can't buy his own nice things. Enjoy!

The man better be able to do his share of the housechores/childcare then, too.

The beauty of this choice? Outsourcing is not only possible, its generally preferable.

can't outsource everything unless you don't care about seeing your kid for more than 30min/day, or talking/reading/playing with your kid for 10min.

We had a nanny. We were home by 4 and 4:30. Kids went to bed at 7 when they were toddler/babies. I don't want to outsource all of my parenting duties. Why bother having kids, then?

Cleaning, cooking, bathing/diapers, yard work - outsource. Do yourself - bedtime, fun projects like making cookies or glitter bath bombs, walking in the park with your toddler, family together time.

diapers is a 24/7 thing. Babies/toddlers don't stop pooping/peeing as soon as the nanny leaves. And as they get older, I like to be able to be home for them, talk about their day, help with HW, etc.. and generally have a non-stressful evening. We're usually done with all the HW, dinner, cleanup, getting stuff ready for tomorrow by about 7pm. Kids in bed by 9, at which point, it becomes DH and my alone time. We are not exhausted and stressed.

I'm not a lawyer and didn't have crazy work hours, but I was still logging in after kids went to bed because I would get home by 4:30 so I could spend some time with them. Wasn't having as much sex then. Too tired. Now that I cut waaay back, our sex life has improved. We have family dinners almost every night.

How many hours do most lawyers work including commute?

So sick of MRA trash

MRA answer is "wouldn't marry either, they'd both be plates".

Oh look the “MRA” troll is back!

A hairdresser at the Hair Cuttery, no. A hairdresser at a high-end salon, yes. They make a surprising amount of money.
