Op reminds me of a friend's husband. He's obsessed with status and tends to be a bit of a narcissist. He can also be borderline mentally abusive because he expects his family to look a certain way for "status" reasons. My friend is pregnant right now and admitted she's afraid of how he would react if their child ever ended up with special needs. It doesn't fit into his "image"
