No, you can slam an automatic into park. I did it by accident in a Mercedes car2go. I hate those cars...it's way to easy to hit park (it's just a little button by the steering wheel where my wiper control was in my old car.)Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:How does it do any good to be told something once when you're 15 or 16 and then never actually do it? What happened to downshifting or throwing the shifter into park to lock up the drivetrain? Yes, it will destroy the transmission. It will also stop the vehicle, too. Don't they teach thus stuff in drivers ed anymore?
This would only apply to manual cars?
This article says some of the injured were transferred to a hospital. It's still early so there could be misinformation being spread. https://www.dailyfreeman.com/news/national/multiple-deaths-reported-in-schoharie-wedding-limo-crash/article_d91913f7-3a86-5792-8124-8a0457616a9b.htmlAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I thought I read someone was transferred to a hospital in Albany. I thought that was odd too. I know they weren't in seatbelts and so they were tossed around but you would think someone would survive - at least initially.
Agreed, but I think I read that the limo was going 60+ mph..hate to be graphic, but at that speed I would guess people would be thrown and hit their heads pretty violently.
Yes, it would. I hadn’t read that anywhere, but I’ve only read a couple articles about it.

I get that. But still seems strange that no would be taken alive, in serious or critical condition. All 18 were essentially declared dead at the scene. I'm sure a lot of jostling can cause a lot of bodily trauma without seatbelts, but it appears the limo remained upright - it didn't roll down the hill - it skid/drove down it. Extremely tragic, nonetheless.
It hit a parked SUV. People said the crash sounded like an explosion.
