$3.5m including 401k and house net value. No financial advisor, but we are getting ready to look for one to develop our retirement plan- not for the long term, just o set up our strategy. DH is 57 and I am 54.

Don’t ever lease cars. Pay cash for cars that we keep at least 6 years. Don’t belong to a country club. Lived on one salary and saved the second for the 1st 10+ years of our marriage.

Almost $1M in retirement (mostly tsp and DH’s 401k) plus both of us will have pension benefits. (I’m a fed, DH isn’t, but has a similar type pension). But we don’t really have any other assets except for home equity and some regular savings.

No advisor since there’s really nothing to adjust at this point in time. However, i might be willing to pay for some help when we get closer to retirement, since it seems that strategy will likely become more important.

In fact best decision we made some years ago was to get rid of our advisor.

We can do it better and cheaper and way more fun.
