Subject: Taking newborn to restaurant in DC
No need to call unless the place usually requires reservations. You can mention that the 3rd person is a baby if you wish to do so. They might have the high chairs that accommodate carseats. Please make sure the baby is out of waiter's way and people walking by. You don't want any accidents with hot food or drinks.
If people are coughing and sneezing, cover up your sleeper.

If your newborn is a good sleeper, it’s a no brainer. When DD was still at the age where she’d sleep for 3 hour blocks between nursing sessions, we would bring her to restaurants all the time and just stick her bucket car seat next to the table. Now she’s 2 and we still go out but obviously it’s harder. Take advantage of the sleepy newborn stage!

OMG people, you don’t need a high chair. We would bring our newborn to loud steakhouses and just put him under the table or to the side in the bucket car seat. Go later when it is good and noisy, like 9pm. No one will care.

FYI those sort of pyramid-shaped wooden highchairs restaurants have will hold a car seat if you flip them upside-down.
