+1 I have horrendous gag reflex too. But you just gotta get over it and do what needs to be done. Bunch of sissy men and you women who make excuses for your sissy DHs.

Hige huge turn off.

+1 It is a huge turn off, and men don't seem to get this. They think they are entitled to all the benefits of marriage but not the hard work of being a dad and good husband.

+2 At my first real job after college, a manager talked about how her husband was so proud that he never changed diapers. Not even just a wet diaper, not for any of their three kids. He was of the opinion that it wasn't something a real man should have to do (even though he was the big push for having kids in the first place) so she could never leave the kids home alone with him until they were potty trained. That conversation stuck with me enough that when DH and I were getting serious and discussing our future, we had a conversation about parenting and I made sure to bring up that I could never respect a guy who behaved that way and DH wholeheartedly agreed.

Obviously, it isn't a perfect barometer of "good father" but there is a very low probability of a man being a good father if he's the type to refuse to take care of diapers ever.

Yep... Trump comes to mind. He never changed a diaper in his life or had much to do with the kids until they were 18.

I knew a woman who needed a sitter for several hours so she could take her exam for some professional license. She is married, but her DH didn't want diaper duty, so she had to find a sitter. How pathetic is that.

I do not know any men who could say they'd never changed a poopy diaper, much less a regular old wet diaper. MAYBE my FIL, but he's old school. Where do these men come from?

I owned the poop diapers, the late night feedings, and most of the many doc visits in year one for all three of our DD’s. Was also working full time during the portion of each first year while DW was on maternity leave. She was beat from tough pregnancies and tough post parted issues. The men around here need to step up.

We have 2 kids and he has probably changed 5 poop diapers total. He throws up often. I am not very sensitive to smells and I have no problem changing the diapers.

On the other hand, I am a shitty sleeper. If I wake up, I take forever to fall asleep. I have insomnia, etc. DH is an amazing sleeper and he did 75% of the night wake ups with both of our kids. He would take the 11:30pm to 5:30 am shift and then I would let him sleep until 7:30-8. He was not too exhausted and I was happy.
I’ll take 100% of changing if I can keep a few more hours of sleep

So he never changed the baby’s diaper before/after night feeding...mhmmmm ok, nice try tho

My BIL is the same way and I'm pretty sure he prides himself on NEVER changing a poopy diaper. He'll leave the kid sit in it in order to protect this reputation he's proud of. Needless to say SIL is very resentful and I'm not sure their marriage is going to survive his lack of responsibility for the child they have together.

I pick up my dog's poop. It's and indication of his health. He can't talk, so poop helps me know how he digests his food or if he ate something he shouldn't have. That's how I see changing baby diapers.

Hi @OP I think it will be beneficial to have a serious discussion with your DH about sharing the parenting tasks for your son. Good communication is vital for any relationship, so I suggest you keep talking and finding ways to work as a team. All the best.

They may gag too much.

But that is no excuse for your husband.
Because he conceived the child.

So he needs to suck it up + care for his child.

In other words....
Man up.

This. My dh absolutely gags and has thrown up a couple ones right after changing Dds poopy diapers or underwear during accidents. And it's happened multiple times and he kept doing it because he's her dad and it's his responsibility. When we were both home he still offered and did it even if it was so easy to just ask me to do it as I'm not bothered by it.

What?!? Do you both seriously think women are genetically better to change poopy diapers? I've gagged too but baby's needs come first.
