PP of course SG is quoting you unrealistic stats if you have insurance coverage for treatment, they are a money making mill, and once your coverage is spent they will tell you the truth.

13:52 here - yes, I think crazy high is the way to describe it. However, I do have a child already that I conceived naturally at 36, plus my FSH etc. is supposedly good, so maybe that's a factor. If my insurance didn't cover it, it probably wouldn't be worth the cost to even try at my age, but I have the coverage, so it's worth a try...

SG quoted you 25% and your 42, that it outrageous! Look at their CDC stats and success for over 40 is less than 3%

Wow. I don't know anything about DF, but I read the text on this link and it just strikes me as completely irresponsible and misleading - really creating false hopes for over-40 women. I'm almost 42 and SG quoted me a 25% chance of success with IVF (which I'm sure is ridiculously exaggerated), but at least they never tried to feed me any crap like what's on that link - heartwarming stories of real-life patients who beat the absurd odds. Seems pretty unprofessional.

When I consulted about NCIVF, they were very upfront about the % chances of not getting to transfer, for the various reasons that that happens. I think it is too soon for them to publish anything, given that they just started this 10 months ago and have a very small patient population that has used it. I happen to think it is great that they are offering this option to older women, because it is an opportunity to up your chances for success a little bit, especially if you have high FSH and don't stim well anyway.

There are statistics on their site for the natural cycle successes. I'm 42 and tried but it didn't work. No problem with everything, and transferred a 10-cell good quality embryo too. Since they are the only one doing this, they aren't required to show how many retrieved, etc. but even if they did, you should check out the sucess rates.

This is exactly what I hate about DF. When will they publish peer-reviewed research on their natural cycle "successes"? What percent of the eggs retrieved from 40 year old women never make it to transfer? (and I believe these cases are ignored and therefore don't count as failures in their stats). Do they even give the actual chances of success in this story? no. Why not? any clinic can have a few miracle cases. How about giving us hard numbers?

I can't believe that DF would post a story like that which wasn't true. But, realize that is there first over 40 success story with natural cycle. Just as with all IVF centers, the numbers are low for anyone 40 and over. All centers will post the positive stories so you "believe" it will happen to you. 25% chance for success for regular IVF at 40. That means I would get pregnant, and 3 others do not. Plus, those successes count chemical pregnancies, so if there is a miscarriage at 6, 7, 8 weeks or more, it is still counted as a positive. Just go i with hopeful but realistic thoughts wherever you go.
