Yes, absolutely! We all look forward to these in the family. It’s fun, it’s tradition for us to shop for the outfits and plus we just love the photos.

Don't they just have something you wear on top for the photo? I remember putting something over my outfit or replacing my outfit for the photo so that we all looked the same.

Yep, they're a thing. I thought the school-photographer portraits would be good enough, but they turned out kinda blah and my DD was bummed. So we did the real thing later in the year, but it was too late for yearbook. Still, I'm glad we did them--so much better, and she'll have them forever.

But in addition, getting professional photos on your own has cropped up as a thing in recent years.

I graduated in 1989.

Everyone did photo shoots with an outside photographer back then, involving multiple outfits, poses, different backdrops or outside, shots in your uniform, etc.

It is not a new thing at all.

Same in 1994

Same here is 1993 in MD. They took the photos in the summer before senior year and I remember sweating in my different sweaters for the shoot.

It was a big thing over 20 years ago when I was a senior (not in DC area). I looked fantastic, they're nice to have.
