I could barely get through the first episode. Kind of a snooze.

He doesn’t really have the gravitas for this role. He seems to be reciting lines not delivering them—no change in inflection.

He’s definitely a small screen actor, but I think he does better as a sitcom actor.

Meh. I was more offended by the poor geography details in one of the later episodes. The scene opens in a suburban neighborhood as a car pulls into a driveway:

Sorry, but I’ve read sll Clancy’s (own) books but had never heard of The Office til these posts.

Alex Baldwin, Chris Pine and Ben Affleck all took a shot doing Jack Ryan, but Harrison Ford is certainly the gold standard. I look forward to watching it, notwithstanding I’ve heard its basically a Hamilton Khaki watch commercial.

+1 Especially if you watched The Quite Place or 13 Hours.

I've watched several episodes and like it. But I keep thinking of Jim from The Office and how odd it is for him to be in a fistfight.

Wow, I truly had no idea all of those movies are/were linked.

I didn't either! Especially Hunt for Red October - I had no idea that was a Jack Ryan story.

Seriously? Hunt for Red October was the first novel Clancy wrote. It came out of the blue and was a huge best seller. Ryan was his main character.

It caught on and boomed after Reagan read it and endorsed it. Prior to that it was a military book

Huge jack Ryan fan (Harrison ford! Alec Baldwin!)

We watched 2 eps tonight. Good so far. I realized I only see movies about this character, so 8 episodes is a long time....however, I also listened to one of the newer Clancy audiobooks so I guess that was a lot of time too.

I watched The Office once and it was so stupid I couldn't sit through it again. I like Krasinski but I'm not watching this new show/ miniseries/ movie/ whatever it is.

I just watched it as well. I was excited for it, but it was ok. Too fast-paced, story line not developed enough, too much like a lot other TV.
